At the sprawling JFB, they set up an outdoor beer garden, an appropriate setting to try their fall beers. They have a first year canning of their Sugar Skull Pumpkin Ale. Their whiskey pumpkin ale is aged in LIV Rough Rider barrels for about 11 months. When drinking it, you get the fall spices but you also get at the end of that sip, a little whiskey flavor!

Diane Tucci of Main Street Productions, in association with Dominic Esposito of Deville Films, have announced they will be co-producing Craft Aid, virtual concerts that aims to support several North Fork Breweries who like so many in the hospitality industry have been adversely affected by COVID-19.

Lady Brewsters of the North Fork
The women that make up the Lady Brewsters of the North Fork are co-owners, brewers or managers from seven North Fork breweries. Their specially crafted beer, Lunar Ascent, an IPA, will be available through March for National Women's Month at all of their breweries.

Fresh Hops & Farm Brewing
After a successful first year opening, horticulturists turned brewers Melissa Daniels and Anthony Caggiano are getting closer to their goal of becoming a fully self-contained farm brewery. JFB is one of the only producers on Long Island to grow both the hops and barley required for making beer on-site.

Grab a pint at the new Jamesport Farm Brewery—opened in Riverhead Aug. 25—where most craft beers are made with hops, wheat and barley grown right on site. A true “farm to pint” experience, the 43-acre farmland that was once a potato farm, now has many hop plants that prefer the same soils as potatoes. I caught up with Jamesport Farm Brewery co-owner Melissa Daniels to learn about some of the popular brews out this fall.

Jamesport Farm Brewery to Host Long Island’s Fresh Hop Festival
LI Hops, a 43-acre hop farm and home to newly opened Jamesport Farm Brewery, is nestled among the plentiful wineries of the Long Island North Fork. Each year, as the summer winds down, they begin the harvest of several hop varieties—all for sale to local homebrewers and professionals alike. On Saturday, September 23, they’ll be hosting over 15 breweries for a festival showcasing beers (and a couple ciders) that utilize fresh hops.

Jamesport Farm Brewery’s bid to become Long Island’s first “farm to pint” brewery took a step forward last Thursday after numerous speakers urged the Riverhead Town Planning Board to approve the project and officials decided to not require a potentially lengthy environmental study.

Hop Farms Booming on Long Island
Long Island is helping revive the hops industry in the Empire State. Thanks to recent legislation that is encouraging small scale breweries to source from within the state, the number of acreage in the state producing hops jumped from perhaps five acres nearly a decade ago to nearly 300 in 2015, according to Cornell University’s cooperative-extension division.
